The Donner Summit area is a small, secluded community located at the top of Old Highway 40. It’s easily accessed by I-80 and is close to the amenities of Truckee. Its location makes it an attractive getaway spot for second-home buyers and is even an easy day trip from the Bay Area.

Serene Lakes is a hidden jewel and not as well known as the other lakes. Canoeing, fishing, and plenty of family fun can be found here. The area is very quiet and off the beaten path. Many of the homes have an Old Tahoe cabin feel, although Serene Lakes offers a range of newer luxury homes, including million-dollar lakefront estates. Entry-level homes can be found in a more affordable range than in other greater-Tahoe communities.

Boreal, Royal Gorge, Donner Ski Ranch, and Sugarbowl ski resorts are nearby.
