Carnelian Bay is located on the northwest shore of Lake Tahoe. It was named for the semi-precious yellow and red stones blanketing the shoreline. This quaint, easily accessible community can be found just 6 miles east of Tahoe City.
The neighborhoods are known for wide streets and tall trees, and home types range from larger lakefronts to small, charming Tahoe Cabins. Second properties, vacation rentals, and year-round homeowners can all be found here.
Carnelian Bay is considered a boaters haven. Every year it is home to the huge Concours d’Elegance wooden boat show which draws a national crowd. This part of North Lake has considered a fabulous fishing spot thanks to the large amounts of big Mackinaw found here. Local beaches for residents to enjoy are Carnelian Bay Beach and Patton’s Landing. Three of Tahoe’s world-class ski resorts are just a 20 min. drive away.
